Explore Florida’s Historic Coast During Biketoberfest 2020

Florida’s Historic Coast is safely welcoming bikers to explore the history, experience the 42 miles of beach, enjoy the scenery, and most importantly, make new memories. Local businesses are taking extraordinary measures to ensure visitors' experiences here are safe; they are also making sure touring here is fun for all.

A ride north from Daytona along Scenic & Historic A1A Coastal Byway leads to St. Augustine, the oldest city in the U.S. where visitors can stroll the historic area, dine outdoors at dozens of great restaurants, enjoy live music and explore historic sites. The city makes it easy for bikers too. During Biketoberfest, designated parking will be available along the Plaza de la Constitucion, just for motorcycles.

In St. Augustine, fun music and live entertainment are available at classic sites like Trade Winds Lounge, The Colonial Oak Music Park, or Prohibition Kitchen. There are plenty of great outdoor and waterfront eateries that cater to our biker friends too.

Be sure to visit St. Augustine Fish Camp, serving the freshest local-caught seafood with plenty of outdoor seating along the scenic San Sebastian River. O.C. White’s Seafood & Spirits across from the marina is a local favorite, or visit Kingfish Grill for fresh fish and seafood on the water at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Aunt Kate’s and Cap’s on the Water are also famous for their seafood dishes and sunset views over the Intracoastal Waterway.

Bikers visiting Florida’s Historic Coast are invited to take a break and get away from the bigger crowds at Daytona during Biketoberfest by taking advantage of some of the great lodging deals at Crescent Beach, along the I-95 Corridor, and in historic St. Augustine. Check on these added value deals.

There are plenty of scenic routes to explore on Florida’s Historic Coast too. The 72-Mile A1A Scenic & Historic A1A Coastal Byway extends from Flagler Beach, through historic St. Augustine and north to Ponte Vedra Beach providing seaside vistas and plenty of fresh sea air. There is even a cell phone tour that helps you identify all the cool spots along the way - download the tour from here.

Or take a ride in the countryside for fall fun. From St. Augustine, take a ride west on King Street (SR 214) to the rural area of Florida’s Historic Coast. Once at the river, travel north along the William Bartram Scenic and Historic Highway, where you might come upon local wildlife, including osprey, eagles, snowy egrets, ibis and herons. This is Old Florida at its best. Check out other fun events taking place during Biketoberfest this year, including the Sykes Family Crop Maze (October 16-18) and the 61st Annual Cracker Day event (no steel horses performing) on October 17.

Visitors to Florida’s Historic Coast are asked to follow safe social distancing protocols and to wear face masks when in public places where distancing is more difficult. And equally as important for all, please be kind and patient with each other during these new times.
