Ga. man on run after firing gun outside bar; police ask public for help

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — Dalton Police Department officials asked the public for help identifying a man who fired a gun outside a downtown Dalton bar Sunday morning.

DPD said the man fired the gun outside the Tenoch Bar and Restaurant on Hamilton Street at 1:45 a.m. after he fought another man inside the bar and was kicked out by security.

After determining that the man in the surveillance photos was the one who started the fight, DPD officials said the other man was allowed back into the bar, and the suspect was told to leave.

Instead of leaving, authorities said the man became aggressive with the security guard and refused to leave. He then pulled out a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, waved it around, and pointed it at people on the sidewalk, police said.

Authorities said the man then aimed the gun upwards, across the street and fired it in the air at least two times.

After firing the gun, the man walked north on Hamilton Street towards the parking lot, where security staff told police he got into a red pickup truck and left, traveling south on Hamilton Street.

When police arrived at the scene, the man had left.

Authorities confirmed no one was injured.

The man is of average height with a stocky build and a full beard. Police said he wore a black Ariat brand t-shirt, blue jeans, brown boots, and a brown and white “trucker-style” ball cap.

It’s unclear what charges he’s facing.

Anyone with information regarding the man’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Aaron Simpson at 706-278-9085, extension 9-253.
