Dramatic video captures officers taking down accused slider criminal

ATLANTA — Atlanta police released body camera video of the moments they arrested a man wanted for slider crimes.

Police said officers were on the lookout for slider crime activity at the QT gas station on Sidney Marcus Boulevard on May 31. It’s the same gas station where Atlanta singer Akon’s luxury SUV was stolen on May 25.

Officers saw two men walking around the parking lot and watching cars closely as they parked. Officers saw the men look into at least one car.

Officers approached the two men and started talking to them. They noticed that one of the men, 19-year-old Cedric Woods, was carrying a concealed gun. When Woods saw officers looking at the gun, he ran.

Officers chased him and took him into custody in the parking lot of a Target nearby.

Woods was charged with loitering or prowling, obstruction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property and financial transaction card theft. he was taken to the Fulton County jail. Additional charges are possible.

The second man was not charged and was released from the scene.
