After more than a year, Cheshire Bridge Road set to reopen Oct. 31

ATLANTA — After more than year, Cheshire Bridge Road will reopen Monday.

The busy artery, running from Buckhead near Interstate 85 and Lenox Road south toward Piedmont Park, closed after a bridge fire in August 2021.

One lane in each direction and a sidewalk will open sometime on Oct. 31.

Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach spoke with neighbors and businesses in the area who are excited they won’t have to be cut off from customers or forced to use a detour.

“Been horrible … had to walk two to three blocks to get to the bus stop,” said Jerome Scott, who lives near the bridge.

“Patrons will definitely come back to Cheshire Bridge,” said Larry Jackson, a barber at Anytime Cutz near the closure. “It’s been a strain on a lot of people since the bridge went out, and I’m happy to see it’s back open again.”
