Earlier in the day, a Fulton County judge set the bond during a first appearance hearing for the 30-year-old accused of strangling his wife.

“We come before the court, Mr. Ozuna and myself, with an understanding of the gravity of the charges brought against him over the weekend,” Ozuna’s attorney, Larz Anderson, told the judge.

Ozuna is accused of assaulting and strangling his estranged wife inside his Sandy Springs home this weekend.

Police say when they arrived at the home, they heard screaming and through the open front door saw Ozuna grab his wife by the neck.

They say they then witnessed Ozuna throw her against a wall and hit her with a hand that had a cast on it.

“I respectfully submit that there other facts that will come out that will put this incident in a more proper perspective,” Anderson said.

During Monday’s virtual first appearance hearing, Ozuna’s attorney told a Fulton County judge that there’s much more to the story.

“Mr. Ozuna and his wife are married and at best it is described as a toxic relationship,” Anderson said.

Though Ozuna has no prior criminal history, the state still asked the judge for no bond.

“The state is concerned for the victim’s safety,” attorney Simon Hylton told the judge.

While on bond, Ozuna is not allowed to possess any weapons or have contact with his wife.
