Clark Howard’s Consumer Action Center turns 30 years old

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News and Clark Howard’s Consumer Action Center are celebrating a milestone.

The CAC opened 30 years ago to the day on Wednesday.

Clark’s team is made up of several volunteers who answer questions on the phone for free with no obligation of anyone to go on television.

Some of the volunteers have been helping consumers for more than two decades.

Clark said the work is rewarding.

“When you volunteer somewhere you don’t know what kind of impact you’re going to have. Here, you are the impact. You’re the thing that makes the difference,” Clark said.

Lori Silverman is the director at Clark’s Consumer Action Center. She told Channel 2 Action News they get questions about 401K decisions, how to improve credit, issues with businesses like auto mechanics or how to better deal with collection agencies.

Silverman said they empower callers to take action by providing the tools needed to solve their issues on their own.

Clark’s Consumer Action Center is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
