Falcons debut security screening technology before regular season opener

ATLANTA — The Falcons debuted new security screening technology before the team’s season-opening game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday to make sure guns and other weapons are kept out of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

When the Tennessee Titans installed an AI weapon detection system at Nissan Stadium, the system caught 254 prohibited objects before they were even able to make it to the security gate within a three-game period.

According to a press release, Evolv Technology uses artificial intelligence and advanced sensors to tell the difference between weapons and everyday items, such as mobile phones and keys. The technology has been installed in amusement/theme parks, major stadiums and public places throughout the country.

In addition to the Falcons, Evolv currently works with other NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns, LA Rams, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Atlanta Public Schools just announced it will now be using Evolv in all schools in the district.
