Several warming stations opening in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — As temperatures plummet across metro Atlanta, several warming stations are opening to keep people out of the cold overnight.

City of Atlanta officials say that because of the anticipated frigid temperatures on Friday night, they will be opening an emergency warming shelter at 8 p.m. at the Old Adamsville Recreation Center located at 3404 Delmar Lane NW.

The city is also offering transportation to the warming center from the Gateway Center on Pryor St. at 8 p.m.

Over in Gwinnett County, five warming shelters will be opening at 6 p.m. Those locations include:

  • Buford Senior Center at 2755 Sawanee Road in Buford
  • Shorty Howell Park Activity Building at 2750 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth
  • Best Friend Park Gym at 6224 Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross
  • Centerville Senior Center at 3025 Bethany Church Road in Snellville
  • Lawrenceville Senior Center at 225 Benson Street in Lawrenceville
