Chick-fil-A testing out mobile order-only express lane for customers

ATLANTA — You ordered your food online for a speedy pickup, but you still have to wait in line behind everyone? Well, there might be a solution coming to a Chick-fil-A near you.

Select locations of the Atlanta-based restaurants are testing out an express drive-thru for mobile order customers, the company announced earlier this week.

Those who order on the mobile app can bypass the traditional drive-thru line to pick up their meal.

Chick-fil-A said this latest innovation aims to help guests move through the drive-thru quickly by dedicating one of its lanes to mobile order pickups.

“The express drive-thru lane is a game-changer for our busy customers and our team members,” said Jonathan Lassiter, a senior integration leader on Chick-fil-A’s Service and Hospitality team.

Customers will have the option to choose how they get their food, or “choose their own adventure,” as the company has dubbed it.

Guests can place food orders with a Chick-fil-A team member at the drive-thru, order takeout inside, or dine in. Chick-fil-A said that customers will still get the same points and rewards in the Chick-fil-A app.

Lassiter said this new lane will give guests an opportunity for a seamless experience.

“By giving guests the opportunity to order and pay ahead through the Chick-fil-A app, checking in at the dedicated lane becomes a seamless experience, making the express drive-thru lane a convenient new option,” said Lassiter.

The express lane is still in its initial testing phase at select restaurants. Chick-fil-A did not say when the lane would be fully operating at all of its locations.
