Cobb County firefighters rescue puppy that fell 15 feet down manhole

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Some brave Cobb County firefighters were able to save a puppy that fell into a manhole despite being swarmed by yellow jackets during the rescue.

Residents of an apartment building reported the sound of an animal whimpering somewhere nearby on Thursday.

Firefighters who responded heard the curious pup crying out for help from around 15 feet down a storm drain.

As firefighters tried to spot the puppy, they disturbed a yellow jacket nest. A few crew members were stung, but that didn’t halt the rescue effort.

“They tested the air quality in the hole before FF Dominic Simone Kennesaw’s newest hero from Squad 16 grabbed this mischievous pup with no injuries,” Cobb County Fire said.

No one claimed the dog, so it was taken to Cobb County Animal Services.
