Elves allowed back on the shelves in Cobb County

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Earlier this month, a Cobb County judge issued a playful order banishing Elf on the Shelf from Cobb County for the sanity of parents across the county.

The Cobb County Bar Association has now gotten those elves their jobs back.

“Tired of living in Elf on the Shelf tyranny? Not looking forward to the Elf forgetting to move and causing your kids emotional distress? I am a public servant and will take the heat for you. My gift to tired parents,” Leonard wrote. “P.S. - If you love your elf, keep your elf. No contempts,” Judge Rob Leonard wrote in his “judicial order.”

The Bar Association teamed up with Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty Snowman to plead the case that the elves are essential workers in Cobb County.

Judge Leonard rescinded his mock order earlier this week saying that without the elves, children across the county would suffer this holiday season.

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas tradition in which parents move a stuffed elf around the house every night to keep an eye on whether kids are naughty or nice.

“Elf on the Shelf” was written by Georgia mom Carol Aebersold and her daughter Christa Pitts. Aebersold created the tradition for her twin daughters when they were children.
