Hours-long search for suspect who pointed gun at Cobb County officers over

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The search for a murder suspect has come to an end after an officer-involved shooting in Cobb County.

Police confirmed that their search for Damian Strozier is over, but they did not comment on the outcome of their search.

Family members told Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco that he was shot and killed by police while trying to figure out the best way to surrender. Police have not confirmed if that was the case.

In a statement from the Cobb County Police Department, Strozier, 31, is wanted for murder by the Atlanta Police Department.

Atlanta police say on March 20, Strozier was riding an electric scooter on Northside Drive when he hit a 67-year-old woman and drove off. The next day, she died from her injuries.

Since then, police have obtained warrants charging Strozier with felony murder and aggravated assault.

CCPD said Tuesday it was looking for Strozier because, while attempting to serve an outstanding warrant for murder, he pointed his weapon at police.

The officer fired at the suspect, who ran from the scene.
