Decatur police: Nine puppies found abandoned overnight in dog park

DECATUR, Ga. — Several puppies are looking for the ‘paw’fect home after authorities say they were left to fend for themselves in a dog park in Decatur.

The Decatur Police Department says nine furry friends were left abandoned overnight at the Glenlake Dog Park. Unfortunately, one died.

The other eight puppies were taken to DeKalb County Animal Services on Thursday. Two of the puppies were in critical condition but is expected to make a full recovery, the veterinary staff told Decatur officials.

If you would like to adopt one of the puppies, contact Lifeline Animal Project at 404-294-2996. Authorities say the puppies are super sweet and need great homes to go to.

Lifeline says 150 dogs need to find homes in the next seven days, due to extreme shelter overcrowding in DeKalb County.

Adoptions are $23 in January at any LifeLine location, including their pop-up shelter in Midtown Atlanta.

The Criminal Investigations Unit is currently working to learn more about who may have deserted the puppies. Officials are asking anyone who have any information to contact the Decatur Police Department at 404-373-6551.
