DeKalb County school district announces vaccination date for teachers

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County School District announced its plan for vaccinating employees and testing families for COVID-19 on Thursday.

Officials said that they will administer the vaccine to employees on March 20 at the district’s Administrative & Industrial Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The district will send out a registration link to employees on March 15.

The district has partnered with the DeKalb County Board of Health, Walgreens and Briarcliff Pharmacy to administer the vaccine. They may open other locations on another date, school officials said.

“Our vaccination and testing options provide a service for our employees and the DeKalb County community, as we transition to hybrid learning,” DCSD Superintendent Cheryl Watson Harris said. The vaccine is not mandated, but we wanted to make sure our employees had access after the state adjusted the roll-out schedule.”

The board of health has secured 12,000 vaccination kidt for employees who expressed an interest in getting the vaccine.

The district will also offer COVID-19 testing at four schools for staff and families on March 20 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and then between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Testing will be performed at Cross Keys High School, Bethune Middle School, Doraville United Elementary School and Dunwoody Elementary School.
