Paramedic admits to raping a woman he found sleeping in her car, police say

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — In a Channel 2 Action News exclusive, DeKalb County police say a paramedic is accused of raping a complete stranger.

Bruce Hines is now on unpaid administrative leave at his job pending the outcome of an investigation.

According to court documents, Hines admitted to “initiating nonconsensual sex with the victim in a discreet parking lot next to an abandoned structure.”

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden was live on Channel 2 Actions News at 5 p.m. at the DeKalb County Police headquarters. The 51-year-old victim told police she was parked on the side of the road and sleeping in her car when Bruce Hines targeted her in the middle of the night.

He was off of the job when he targeted the woman in the 4400 block of Glenwood Road on March 5 between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

In an interview with police, Hines reportedly admitted that his “victim was inebriated after leaving a nightclub.”

It is unclear if Hines was at the same night club, but police say the two did not know each other.

DCPD said after interviewing Hines’ alleged victim, there was enough evidence to charge him with multiple crimes.

Hines’ employer responded to the allegations and a spokesperson with AMR sent Channel 2 Actions News the following statement:

“We were informed that employee Bruce Hines has been arrested on charges unrelated to his employment at AMR. Mr. Hines has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending investigation. The administrative leave will remain in effect until the resolution of the investigation. AMR is cooperating with law enforcement.”

According to jail records, Hines is now out on bond. Channel 2 Action News attempted to reach him and his attorney, but they have not responded.
