Speeding motorcyclist causes deadly crash in Douglas County, GSP says

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglas County Sheriff’s patrol car blocked portions of S Burnt Hickory Rd. late Saturday night after a crash, neighbors told Channel 2 Action News.

The Georgia State Patrol said the crash happened around 10:24 p.m. and involved a car and motorcycle.

The motorcycle was traveling south on S. Burnt Hickory Rd. at a high speed as a GMC Yukon was traveling north. The Yukon stopped at the stop sign and started to turn let onto Newman Ellis Rd. when the motorcyclist, 22-year-old Daniel Cardenas failed to stop, hitting the Yukon.

One neighbor told Channel 2 Action News his wife heard a motorcycle speeding down the road just before the crash.

Cardenas was pronounced dead on the scene and 53-year-old Robert Young was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
