Floyd County police say goodbye to beloved K9 officer

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — He lived a full life as a Floyd County police K9 officer from 2010 until he retired in 2015.

Saturday morning, Floyd County police K9 officer Rocky, who worked with the department’s explosives unit, died at the age of 14.

Rocky trotted away from active duty in 2015 at the age of eight, when his partner left the North Georgia police agency.

They said he got the opportunity of a lifetime to live out his days with his partner as a farm dog.

Police said Rocky loved to lounge in the creeks on the farm and chase alongside his partner when he was on a four wheeler. Rocky had a thing for ice cream sandwiches and left his friends with a smile and some fond memories.
