More than a pound of meth found in woman’s car during traffic stop, deputies say

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga, — An improper turn in front of a Forsyth County sheriff’s deputy has landed a local woman in jail on drug trafficking charges.

Misty Slaton, 28 of Chatsworth, was driving on McFarland Parkway in the early morning hours Thursday when a deputy pulled her over for making an improper turn.

While speaking with Slaton, the deputy said she seemed overly nervous, would not make eye contact and gave inconsistent answers. The deputy asked if she would consent to a search of her car and see said no.

The officer then pulled out his K9 partner Ivo who indicated that there were illegal narcotics inside the car.

Deputies found heroin, dozens of multicolored pills, drug paraphernalia and 1.1 pounds of methamphetamine in the car.

Slaton was then arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, three counts of manufacture/deliver/distribute a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain proper insurance, and improper turn.

She is being held without bond in the Forsyth County Jail.
