3 rescued from burning Gwinnett County apartment, fire officials say

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga — Gwinnett County fire officials say three people had to be rescued from a burning apartment early Friday morning.

Fire officials say they arrived at the Montrose Berkeley Lake Apartments on the 3700 block of Peachtree Industrial Blvd at around 12:30 a.m.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the front of the 2-story apartment. Fire officials say 20 units of the Duluth apartment building had to be evacuated.

Officials have not said how they believe the fire was ignited. Duluth Police assisted fire officials with the evacuation.

According to fire officials, four people were assessed at the scene.

The fire is now under control, officials said.
