Gwinnett woman desperate to find 7-year-old yorkie stolen from her car

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta woman is working with police in Gwinnett County to try to get her yorkie back after someone stole her dog from her car.

Channel 2′s Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson was at the scene, where a witness saw the whole thing and was able to give a description of the car.

Pamala Schand said she has a key fob and thought she’d locked her doors, but thieves were waiting to strike.

Schand said that she parked outside of a Ross store and went inside just before 9 p.m. Thursday. When she came out of the store, a woman told her that she saw someone steal Schand’s 12-year-old dog, Tyson.

“I had him since he was a baby,” Schand said. “I can’t sleep. I probably slept 12 – 15 hours in four days.”

Schand said she’s been bringing her other dog, Tough, back to the parking lot off Stone Mountain Highway to look for Tyson.

Schand said that even though she thought she locked to door, she thinks maybe she was too far away when she hit the button, and someone was waiting to strike.

Schand said she’s particularly worried about her 7-pound yorkie because he needs medication that he’s not getting.

A witness told Gwinnett County police that he saw someone take Tyson and then get into a gold sedan.

Tyson is microchipped so he can be returned anyway. Schand said she has a $500 reward for his safe return.
