Falcons legend Warrick Dunn surprises Henry County mother of 3 with her first home

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A mother of three is now a first-time homeowner and has everything she needs thanks to a former Atlanta Falcons player and his nonprofit.

Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway was there when Shaneeka Grant and her family walked inside their new home for the first time.

“I’m so shocked and so happy at the same time. Everything that I wanted is here. I dreamed about it and it came true,” Grant said.

Shaneeka Grant is now the proud owner of a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house in Henry County.

The house is fully furnished with extra trim in every room and Christmas presents for Grant and her three children.

It is all thanks to the Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity and former Atlanta Falcon Warrick Dunn.

“It’s important that we wrap our arms around people and show them love,” Dunn said.

The NFL legend, who is know for his philanthropy work, surprised Grant with a $5,000 down payment assistance check and $10,000 worth of furnishings from Aaron’s.

“It’s exciting because this is home to help a family right before Christmas. The holidays are a time of giving,” Dunn said.

Grant previously lived in a two-bedroom townhouse with nine others. But now she can finally enjoy a beautiful room all to herself and her children, too.

“We shared a bed. We were living in the same bed and now they have their own space and they can do their own thing,” she said.
