HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — One of the original officers from the Henry County Police Department has died.
Senior Officer George Padgett died during an accident at his home on October 14, the police department announced on Monday.

Spokespeople for the police department said that Padgett was one of the first officers to join the force when it first started in 1991. He was part of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office before then.
After 34 years of serving Henry County, Padgett was set to retire next month.

Details on the accident Padgett was involved in have not been released.
The officer will be laid to rest on Friday in McDonough.
