Woman walks away without a scratch after tree crushes her car while she’s inside of it

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A tree fell on a car in Paulding County Wednesday, causing the roof to cave in and smashing the windows, all while a woman was in the driver’s seat.

Survivor Sandra Holley walked Channel 2′s Audrey Washington through the terrifying moments that the fluke accident happened.

“I was in the driver’s seat. My dog was in his seat. He was in the passenger seat. All of a sudden, I heard this big boom and the car just kind of collapsed on me,” Holley said.

Holley told Washington that after the tree came crashing down on top of her, she tried to open the door, but soon realized she was trapped inside.

“I put my feet against it, and it still wouldn’t open, and the tree was laying across the door,” Holley said.

Neighbors called 911, and Paulding County firefighters quickly got to the scene and went to work.

Firefighters had to cut off the driver’s side door to get to Holley.

She and her dog walked away from the car with no broken bones -- not even a scratch.

“It would have been totally different if I had been standing there by myself. It’s a Ford Focus and I’m very proud of it,” Holley said.

The car is a total loss, but Holley said she has insurance and will get another vehicle.

With the rain and wind passing through the area Thursday, Holley said she’ll make sure to watch the weather from inside her home.
