Scheduling tool for monkeypox vaccine now available on Department of Public Health website

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Public Health has launched an online scheduling tool and help line to make getting appointments for the monkeypox vaccine smoother.

The scheduling tool allows applicants to choose a first or second dose of Jynneos vaccine.

Because the vaccine supply remains limited, applicants will answer questions that help DPH prioritize vaccines for those who may have been exposed to monkeypox, following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The scheduling tool simplifies finding a vaccine and scheduling a vaccination anywhere in the state by having all available appointments in one place instead of having to search individual health department websites.

The availability of vaccines will be updated regularly, DPH says.

The monkeypox virus can spread from person to person through direct contact with an infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids. It also can be spread by respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex, the CDC says.
