Firefighters had to bring in all kinds of specialized equipment to shore up walls and floors at risk of falling in as they searched.

Fire crews spent hours carefully navigating the unstable house, searching for any remains. Firefighters said the rear of the home collapsed as the fire raged, possibly burying Harris and her grandmother.

“It didn’t take but a matter of minutes for the room to collapse, that’s how fast it happened,” homeowner Jerome Harris said.

Five people survived the fire and were taken to hospitals. Their identities and conditions have not been released.

Onrica Harris, Hailey Harris’ mother, has set up a GoFundMe account to help with her daughter’s funeral expenses.
