Young father found shot to death inside his home, police say

Police are searching for the gunman who fired shots into a home and killed a young father.

The shooting happened overnight on Chestnut Oak Drive in Palmetto. The man, whose name has not been released, was dead when officers arrived shortly after midnight.

Police believe the killer fired several shots through a man’s front door. The victim’s family wants to know why someone would want to kill the young father.

“He was brilliant, kind, beautiful spirit. An amazing father,” a family member told Channel 2 Action News.

One other person inside the home asleep was not hurt.

Overnight, Palmetto police and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents knocked doors seeking information from neighbors.
