How absentee and mail-in ballots are processed

If you are planning to vote by absentee ballot for Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff elections, you can go ahead and request your ballot. (Click here to request it from the Secretary of State’s website.)

The runoff election will take place on January 5.

Individual counties will begin mailing the ballots out on Nov. 18. All ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on Election Day. They can be mailed in or dropped in an absentee ballot drop box in your county.

Once you request your ballot, you can track it all the way through your vote being processed using Georgia’s ballot tracking system.

Early voting for the runoff election begins on Dec. 14.

If you haven’t already registered to vote, you still can for the federal runoff. That deadline is Dec. 7.
