Coronavirus: Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll tests positive for COVID-19

SEATTLE — Pete Carroll, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, tested positive Sunday for COVID-19, the team confirmed via social media.

Carroll, 70, is fully vaccinated and experiencing mild symptoms, KIRO-TV reported.

Carroll will remain at home and in contact with coaching staff, participating in team meetings virtually until he is cleared to return, the TV station reported.

Carroll, who will turn 71 on Sept. 15, is the NFL’s oldest coach, NBC Sports reported.

According to KIRO, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who is only five months younger than Carroll, is the second-oldest coach in the league.

By late Monday afternoon, cumulative U.S. COVID-19 cases totaled nearly 91.4 million, including nearly 3.5 million cases diagnosed within the past 28 days, according to a Johns Hopkins University tally.
