PLAY-BY-PLAY: How No. 1 Georgia dominated No. 3 TCU in College Football Playoff championship

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — No. 1 Georgia has done it! The Bulldogs defeated No. 3 TCU, 65-7, in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Channel 2 Action News is the official TV partner of Georgia Bulldogs athletics and giving Dawgs fans national championship access like no one else can.

Channel 2 sports director Zach Klein and Channel 2′s Alison Mastrangelo are inside So-Fi Stadium. Here’s how the game unfolded.

10:45 p.m.

Georgia takes over on downs and Robinson scores his second touchdown of the night. Dawgs miss the extra point, but are up 65-7.

10:38 p.m.

Now it’s time for a curtain call for the Georgia defensive leaders. Smart pulls Kelee Ringo, Christopher Smith and Jalen Carter for the final time.

10:32 p.m.

Branson Robinson sneaks it across the one-yard line to make it 59-7 score.

10:25 p.m.

Kirby has seen enough: He is taking Bennett out of the game to a standing ovation from Georgia faithful at SoFi Stadium.

10:12 p.m.

9:56 p.m.

ESPN’s Holly Rowe reports that Georgia’s Bullard appears out for the rest of the game. He has both of Georgia’s interceptions on the night.

9:51 p.m.

Brock Bowers gets his first touchdown of the night with a 22-yard grab from Bennett. It took the Dawgs four plays and 1:22 to score on that possession. Bowers now has 152 receiving yards.

9:43 p.m.

For the first time all night, Georgia’s offense hasn’t scored.

9:11 p.m.

AD MITCHELL!! He comes up with a spectacular one-handed catch for the touchdown. Georgia leads at halftime, 38-7, and it will get the ball to start the second half.

9:08 p.m.

Georgia’s defense isn’t letting the offense have all the fun. Max Duggan gets sacked on second down and then throws an interception to Bullard, his second of the night for UGA.

Bullard’s interceptions give the UGA offense another shot in the red zone before halftime.

9:05 p.m.

Georgia’s offense isn’t letting up. The Dawgs have scored on each of their possession tonight.

8:58 p.m.

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers wasn’t targeted much in the Peach Bowl semifinal game. He’s more than making up for that tonight as Bowers already has over 100 receiving yards with less than two minutes to play in the first half.

8:49 p.m.

Max Duggan tries the deep pass but he overthrows his receiver and Javon Bullard comes up with the interception.

8:39 p.m.

Bennett keeps it yet again and has no problem finding the endzone. Georgia up 24-7 after the extra point is good.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Bennett is the first quarterback to rush for multiple touchdowns in CFP National Championship. Vince Young and Craig Krenzel accomplished that in the BCS era.

8:30 p.m.

8:22 p.m.

Bennett finds Ladd McConkey WIDE OPEN in the endzone for the 37-yard score. It took Georgia only four plays and two minutes on that scoring drive.

8:15 p.m.

TCU responds with its first touchdown of the game. Quarterback Max Duggan walks into the endzone with the keeper.

8:07 p.m.

Short field goal attempt from Jack Podlesny is good. Georgia gets at least some points off the turnover and have built 10-0 lead.

8:01 p.m.

TURNOVER TCU! After a holding flag on Georgia defense, they come up with a fumble recovery!

7:54 p.m.

DAWGS STRIKE FIRST! Stetson Bennett IV keeps it and rushes it in for the 21-yard touchdown.

ESPN’s Holly Rowe asks Kirby Smart what Georgia needs to do tonight to win. Smart simply responded: “Aggressive...we’re going hunting tonight.”

7:42 p.m.

Former UGA quarterback and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford escorts the Georgia captains to midfield. Tonight’s officials are from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

TCU calls tails and it’s heads. Georgia elects to defer to the second half for its offense. TCU will start with the ball.
