Most of metro Atlanta woke up Sunday to the coldest air of the season.

It was the coldest morning since St. Patrick's Day, Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Parts of northern Georgia mountains received snow flurries early Sunday.

“For today, expect cloud cover to gradually thin a bit, but overall, a partly to mostly cloudy sky,” Monahan said.

A wind advisory remains in effect through early Sunday evening. Monahan said just about everyone will stay in the 40s for highs. '

The record low maximum in Atlanta is 44 set in 1910.

Under a clearing sky Sunday night – and with less wind – temperatures will fall into the 30s, with some upper 20s in the mountains.

“There’s a freeze watch in our northwest metro counties, with a freeze warning in the mountains. In the city, I do expect some patchy frost to start the day tomorrow. Expect lows generally in the mid to low 30s,” Monahan said.

It will start warming up Monday afternoon as highs climb into the low to mid-60s under a mostly sunny sky.

“Halloween looks great, mostly sunny with morning lows in the 40s and highs in the mid-to upper 60s,” Monahan said.
