ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. — A former police officer is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation after being accused of rape.

On Tuesday, the City of Elberton Police Department asked the GBI to investigate a former officer, Edar Carreon, 30, of Elberton.
This is after the victim filed a report with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the GBI, Carreon went to the victim’s home on Dec. 17, 2024, regarding a report connected to the victim’s daughter. The GBI said the 30-year-old former officer went back to the victim’s home later the same day, and that’s when the incident occurred.

Officials said Carreon did not have a relationship with the victim. Carreon was arrested and charged with one count of rape and one count of violation of oath of office.
Carreon was booked into the Elbert County Jail.
