Atlanta police announced late Friday night that Michael Hollis, 19, had been arrested in connection to the Gregg’s death and washing charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Ja’nylen’s death has rocked the community. Neighbors are calling for the violence to stop.

“These young folks have got guns now, you know, it’s ridiculous,” Casey Dantzar said.

Dantzar said the neighborhood used to be safe, but violence is now out of control.

There was a heavy police presence Friday, with officers on horses and in cars surrounding the complex.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said this isn’t just a Southwest Atlanta problem, and detectives are going to find the killer.

“This neighborhood lost a child and this city lost a child,” Schierbaum said. “This is what the impact of gun violence is.”

Neighbors believe they know who is responsible for this shooting, but it’s unclear if they’re sharing information with police.
