When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire coming from all sides of the home. The mother and one of the boys did not survive.
“This is a very sad tragedy. Our incident commanders, the chiefs behind me, and all the firefighters on scene are really feeling this one. We really tried our best. We got here in five minutes. It’s always a sad day and a long night to experience a call like this,” Battalion Chief Andrew Anderson told Channel 2’s Eryn Rogers on WSB Tonight.
A man and another boy escaped the fire with minor injuries and smoke inhalation. Investigators have not released the names of the victims.

Early investigation indicates that the fire started near the couch, according to Anderson.
The adults tried to put out the fire themselves before calling 911. Firefighters say the man went outside to get water, but by the time he tried to go back in, the fire was too big.
It is unclear exactly what caused the fire.
Anderson said his advice for people who may be in a fire is to call 911 immediately, even if you don’t think it is an emergency.
