FORT STEWART, Ga. — Two soldiers were killed during a training exercise at Fort Stewart on Thursday night.
Officials with the U.S. Army post, located about an hour outside of Savannah, confirmed on Friday morning that two soldiers assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division died in a vehicle accident.

The soldiers were participating in a field training exercise on the post.
“We are heartbroken about this tragic accident and will do everything we can to support the Soldiers’ Families and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Maj. Gen. Christopher Norrie, 3rd Inf. Div. commanding general. “The entire division extends our deepest condolences to the Families of the Soldiers who died in this accident.”

There is no word on how the crash happened and it remains under investigation.
The soldiers’ names have not yet been released.
