SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. — Two people have died after a boat overturned in southeast Georgia, according to deputies.

Around 12:46 p.m., on Wednesday, Screven County dispatch received a call about a boat overturning in a pond off Poor Robin Road.
When deputies arrived, they met with a young boy, who told them he had been in a boat with two other young boys, when their boat overturned.
The boy was treated and released.

The sheriff’s office said other agencies joined in to help with the search. Deputies said after a five-hour search in 46-degree water, the victims’ bodies were found in the pond.
While officials continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to their deaths, no foul play is suspected at this time.
The victims’ ages and identities were not released.
