On Jan. 20, Monroe County deputies responded to a theft of gasoline at the gas station on Rumble Road.
The owner told authorities that between Jan. 19 and Jan. 20, a total of 2,446 gallons of gas was stolen.
Deputies began their investigation and were able to get descriptions of the vehicles, which were a gray SUV and a U-Haul truck that had been seen on both days when the station was closed and used in the crime.
Monroe County officials found the vehicles using the Flock camera system.

Two days later, on Jan. 23, around midnight, a Monroe County deputy spotted the U-Haul that matched the description.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and noticed a distinct smell of gasoline coming from the truck.
When deputies searched the U-Haul, they found two 250-gallon plastic tanks almost empty of gas.
The sheriff’s office arrested 27-year-old Lionel Jones. He was charged with theft by taking, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and a criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Jones is being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.
