ATLANTA — A child is recovering after being shot in a popular area of east Atlanta.
Police said officers were called to the East Atlanta Village Wednesday night after a shooting erupted. When they got there, they found several people shot, including 9-year-old Javonni Carson.
The shooting happened along Flat Shoals Road in front of several bars and restaurants. A total of three people were injured, including Javonni.
He was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding with bullet wounds to both of his legs. The other men were treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Detectives said it was an argument that triggered the gunfire.
Police found 42 shell casings scattered in the street. Detectives told Channel 2 Action News a large group of people were arguing, and someone decided to open fire.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones obtained surveillance video of the shooting showing people running for their lives.
Several rounds hit Javonni in his legs, a man was hit in the back and third person took a bullet to the hand.
Jesse’ka Pritchard said she was celebrating with a friend nearby when she heard the shots.
“As I was coming out of the bathroom, that’s when the shooting happened,” Prtichard said.
Her friend had gone to the car to get something and was caught in the middle of the gunfire. Her car was hit several times, but she was not injured.
“When I opened the door she was crying,” Pritchard said.
Everyone is expected to recover from their injuries.
This is the second time in less than a week that someone shot a child in the city of Atlanta.
Both shooters are still out there.
“This has to stop. Too many kids,” Pritchard said.
