A 12-year-old is dead after police say he was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in southwest Atlanta.
Atlanta police said they were called out to the apartment complex along Cushman Circle SW just after 7 p.m.
Officers said two groups of people got into a fight. One of the groups left and got into a blue car.
That blue car then pulled up to the other group of people and opened fire.
“When we pulled up, it was a whole shoot-out,” a neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told Channel 2’s Brittany Kleinpeter.

The boy was caught in the gunfire.
“When I got in the apartment, the baby was on the couch, his eyes were open, and he was unresponsive,” the neighbor said.
“This neighborhood lost a child. This city lost a child. This is what the impact of gun violence is,” Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said.
Police said they are pursuing all leads to try and find the group of people who were in the blue car.
“That baby didn’t have nothing to do with what was going on,” the neighbor said.
Channel 2 Action News’ cameras caught someone being taken into custody, but police did not confirm if that person had anything to do with the shooting.
They are asking anyone who might have information about the shooter or shooters to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
