ATLANTA — Severe Weather Team 2 has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down across parts of North Georgia early Sunday morning.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Meriwether County, and two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Coweta and Fayette counties Sunday.
The EF-1 storm in Meriwether County had the longest path of just under 25 miles and had winds up to 90 mph.
The storm that entered Coweta County had winds of 85 mph and the tornado in Fayette County had winds of 80 mph.
The storms left a path of destruction in those counties sending trees on top of homes and downing powerlines.
Homeowners continue to clean up from the storms on Monday.
