ATLANTA — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Mozley Park.
Investigators told Channel 2’s Tom Regan that the victim had walked up to a car, and someone in the car opened fire, killing him. The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 27-year-old Zantrez Cummings.
The shooting happened Sunday night in the park off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in northwest Atlanta. Police responded around 9:30 p.m. and found Cummings with at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators don’t have a motive for the shooting yet.
The park has at least six security cameras, and homicide detectives are reviewing video in hopes of getting valuable clues on who was behind the killing.
The driver drove off after the shooting.
People who walk their dogs in this park just about every day, said the violence is alarming.
“Horrible, there’s really nothing else to say,” said neighbor Christian Kerr. “Bad things happen all the time. Some things are avoidable, but there’s no easy answer to try to solve these problems.
