New Year’s Eve party ‘got out of control,’ leaving 1 dead, 2 others shot outside Atlanta nightclub

ATLANTA — Three people were shot and one of them was killed in a shooting outside of a southwest Atlanta nightclub.

Investigators are now trying to determine who was involved in the shooting outside Lacura Bar and Bistro on Metropolitan Parkway around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Social media advertised a New Year’s Eve party at the nightclub. One person inside told Channel 2′s Candace McCowan that it was a great party until “one person got out of control.”

A man named Sensei who said he is a relative of the owner of Lacura Bar and Bistro said the aggressive patron was escorted out.

“Security acted as if they were supposed to, which was remove the person that was inside causing disturbance from all the other patrons to make sure they were safe. Once they did, they go outside, law enforcement escorted them to their car so they could get off the property,” Sensei described.

But Atlanta Police tells Channel 2 Action News the altercation between two people inside continued outside.

One of the people shot was a security guard at the club. He and another man were taken to the hospital by EMS. But a third person, a 28-year-old man died when he arrived at the hospital.

Investigators have not released the identity of the man who was killed.
