ATLANTA — Police are investigating after a woman was shot in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood.

On Thursday afternoon, at 3:43 p.m. Atlanta police were called to 540 Simmons Street in northwest Atlanta.
Atlanta police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a 57-year-old woman was shot. She is alert, conscious and breathing. She was taken to the hospital for her injuries. Her identity was not released.
According to police, multiple people have been detained. Detectives are working to learn what led up to the shooting.
