ATLANTA — Former U.S. Senator for Georgia Kelly Loeffler will appear before members of the U.S. Senate for a hearing on her nomination to lead the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Loeffler, who filled former Sen. Johnny Isakson’s seat for Georgia before being defeated in an election by Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock, was nominated to serve as Administrator for the Small Business Administration by President Donald Trump in December.

At 3:30 p.m., Loeffler will sit before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship committee for consideration, one of the steps to be confirmed and actively take on the role.

Loeffler is not the only Georgian to receive a nomination to lead one of the various federal agencies and administrations in the government by the president.

Former U.S. Rep. Doug Collins is currently going through the process of being confirmed to be the new Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

As for Loeffler, ahead of the committee hearing Wednesday, she delivered a letter on her credentials and background to members of the U.S. Senate.

In that letter, Loeffler said that if she’s confirmed, she’ll “leverage [her] decades of business experience to champion America’s entrepreneurs. We’ll cut red tape and modernize the agency while restoring the accountability and transparency that taxpayers deserve. I will crack down on fraud, with a zero-tolerance policy, while shifting SBA’s focus from Washington D.C. back to Main Streets across America.”

Additionally, she pledged to “responsibly and urgently meet the challenge of disaster relief” while supporting collaboration between the U.S. government and the private sector for “efficiency and results.”
