ATLANTA — An Atlanta pizza restaurant has served its last pie.

Junior’s Pizza in Atlanta’s Summerhill neighborhood announced on Instagram on Saturday that it would be the restaurant’s last day.

In a statement, the owners say they spent the last seven years trying to serve their customers and also make sure their employees were making a livable wage.

“We thought it could be done and we’ve proven it can’t,” they wrote.

Last month, the restaurant decided to close its second location in Hapeville and admitted to struggling financially at the Summerhill location, asking their customers for help.

“We’ve mentally, physically, and emotionally destroyed ourselves for seven years thinking good pizza was enough to keep us going. Now we know it’s not,” they went on to write in their closure announcement.

The owners have set up a GoFundMe campaign to benefit their employees affected by the decision to close the restaurant.
