ATLANTA — A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of metro Atlanta for Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning.
The highest impacts are expected in areas south of Interstate 20.
“It’s important to note that the heavier snow will be in our southern counties and middle Georgia, less snow falls farther north,” said Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz

What time will the snow arrive on Tuesday? Nitz says we’ll likely start the day dry with no snow, then snow moves in. Roads will be fine in the morning to get somewhere, but may not be to return.
Metro Atlanta will be the transition zone. Nitz says parts of the north metro may miss out on the snow altogether with the most snow in the south metro.
“This is the opposite of what we often see, of course,” he said.

The Atlanta metro is the transition zone and we'll be working hard to nail that down over the next couple of days. pic.twitter.com/99stPVVlNi
