ATLANTA — A Delta flight headed to Sao Paulo had to return to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Wednesday night due to an engine issue.

Flight 105 landed safely just after 7 p.m. shortly after it had taken off.

A Channel 2 Action News viewer sent video that she said showed what looked like a fire coming from the engine but it quickly went out.

The viewer said she heard loud explosions come from the plane and visible flames shooting from the engine before it extinguished.

Delta confirmed that there was a problem with the left engine.

The airline said that plane was met with firetrucks upon landing, and they also sprayed down the plane’s breaks “as a precautionary measure due to the heavier than normal landing weight.”
