Body shops in metro Atlanta says business is increasing after accidents in the winter storms

ATLANTA — A winter storm earlier this week brought snowy, icy conditions to the area that sent cars sliding across roads and into ditches throughout metro Atlanta. Now, drivers are dealing with damage and pricey repairs.

At Rogers Classic Collison in Conyers, manager Melvin Little Jr. told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington that business is up 25%.

“Everybody was sliding on ice,” one customer explained. “He hit the car that was behind me and the car behind me hit me and two cars in front of me, they both slid too, and I hit one of them.”

Little told Washington that several cars are being towed to his auto body shop.

“Mostly with bumper and hood, front end hits,” Little said. “It’s not cheap at all.”

From Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon, Channel 2 Action News crews spotted a number of cars stranded on the side of the road or inside ditches.

“I went to take a right here but lost traction in my tires,” said Henry County resident Brandon Kirkley.

Little said most drivers have collision insurance but fail to include rental coverage.

He said with so many cars in the shop these days, a rental is almost always necessary.

“That definitely cuts down on the hassle for transportation while your car is in the shop,” Little said.
