Clark Atlanta University gathers to remember 2 students who died weeks apart

ATLANTA — A huge crowd gathered at Clark Atlanta University to remember Morgan Gamble, a student killed in a crash last week.

Police say a speeding driver crashed into Gamble’s car. Her death comes just weeks after another CAU student, Zion Auguste, was killed in a separate incident on Interstate 75.

At a vigil outside Woodruff Library, students, faculty, friends and family came together to honor Gamble’s life.

Her father, George Gamble, says he’s grateful for the outpouring of support as his family navigates an unimaginable loss.

“Morgan lived every day. She enjoyed life,” he said.

He says he wishes his daughter could have seen the crowd gathered in her honor.

“I just wish Morgan was here to see it. See how many people loved her and supported her,” he said.

Gamble’s father hopes her life will continue to make a difference long after her death.

“I just hope her story and life lingers on to inspire other students,” he said.

The vigil comes as the Clark Atlanta community continues to grieve the loss of two students in separate incidents within weeks of each other.

University President George T. French Jr. acknowledged the pain felt across campus.

“I don’t know if anyone can understand the grief and pain you’re feeling,” he said.

As the community mourns, Gamble’s family hopes her legacy will live through the people she touched.
