CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said a man was seriously injured being involved in a shooting out with deputies Monday night.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was chasing a man and woman in stolen car when they approached the Clayton County line.
Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen told Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne that his deputies were called for help to continue the pursuit once it got into Clayton County.

Once the Clayton deputy got behind the car, the sheriff’s office said a woman in the stolen car started shooting the deputy and the woman and the deputy got into a gun battle.
Also in that time, the stolen car hit at least two others and eventually wrecked in the area of Tara Boulevard and Mundey’s Mill.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said the male driver was seriously injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he went into surgery.
The sheriff’s office said one or more of their vehicles were also hit in the gunfire exchange.
