On Thursday, Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes went to that gas station where an employee told her that the suspect in the shooting kept coming back to the store.

Around midnight, police arrested Javin Alejandro Fonseca, 20, and charged him with malice murder. He’s currently being held in the Clayton County Detention Center.

Fernandes spoke exclusively with Sinyard’s dad, Patrick Redeye, who said he is devastated over the loss of his son.

“I can’t even go there, I can’t do it,” Patrick Redeye said. “It’s something I don’t want nobody to ever feel.”

Redeye said that his son was acting out in the weeks leading up to his murder, which led to him filing a missing persons report on the teenager.

He still hasn’t really processed that his son is gone.

“I got up the other morning to get him ready for school and hit the floor and realized he was gone. He hasn’t even driven a car yet, you know, it’s stuff like that,” Redeye said. “When I think about it, it irks me. There’s too many guns out here, kids getting guns...We’ve got to do something! We gotta do better as a community, as a whole.”

The family set up a GoFundMe campaign to help offset funeral costs.
